UOW Feminist Society

Discuss, participate, socialise, revolutionise.

Want to do Gender Studies at UOW?
In 2013, the University of Wollongong cut its Gender Studies major, declaring that it was not "cost effective". We don't know about you, but we don't look to my uni for cost efficiency. If we want cost efficiency, we go to Ikea. But we believe that studying gender is the first step to making our societies more equal. UOWFemSoc is running a Free School Wednesday lunchtimes (12:30-1:30pm) Weeks 2-10, upstairs in Building 11. If you miss one or want to hear it again, all talks will be documented on uowfreeschool.tumblr.com

Want somethings more casual?
We run social drinks in the UniBar every wednesday evening from 5:30pm during session. Come and hang out with a bunch of cool feminist cats.

Want something more active?
We are currently working to launch a Hollaback website for Wollongong; a website to help combat street harassment through reporting and raising awareness. Let us know if you'd be interested in volunteering!

UOW FemSoc gives students a chance to participate in feminist activism, raises awareness of feminism, and creates safe, social spaces to talk about feminist issues. Intersectionality is an important focus of the group in all three of these areas. This society and Facebook page is open to and supportive of all genders and sexualities.

Harassment will not be tolerated. This page is moderated.
